Overview

The high lift truck driver is responsible for aircraft cleaning and driving the truck to various types of aircrafts. All activities must be accomplished according to the customer’s and JetStream Ground Services’ guidelines while adhering to safety regulations. The Driver interacts with airline representatives at the aircraft, therefore must be customer service oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the High Lift Truck on the ramp and Aircraft Operating Area (AOA)
  • Maneuver High Lift Truck around aircraft and properly adapt to aircraft service doors
  • Use of hand signal communication with guide person to assist in every movement towards an aircraft, as well as backing away from an aircraft
  • Communicate effectively with cleaners, leads, supervisors, tower personnel, and management
  • Clean and sanitize aircraft lavatory sinks, countertops, mirrors, toilets and surrounding areas, trash bins, table changes, walls/ceilings/doors, and floors. Stocking of lavatory paper goods and soap. Removal and disposal of trash from trash bins
  • Clean aircraft seats’ tray tables, first-class center console/beverage trays, seat pockets, and armrests. Ensure correct aircraft seat covers are in place and attached properly, and aircraft seat belts are uniformly crossed. Ensure correct safety evacuation card and seat pocket contents are in place and in good condition
  • Clean and sanitize galley countertops/drains/spigots, exterior cabinet surfaces/latches, and galley trash cans and/or trash compartments. Basic cleaning of aircraft ovens, coffee pots/burner/housing, and galley floors. Removal and disposal of trash from galley trash cans, trash compartments, and cabin trash compartments
  • Clean aircraft overhead bins, windows/frames/shades, air vents, passenger service units, walls/kick plates, bulkhead/dividers, and closets. Ensure pillows and blankets are clean and properly folded, and returned to specified stowage locations. Vacuum floors and under seats/seat cushions. Spot clean carpet and remove embedded gum when necessary
  • Clean aircraft flight deck windows/glare shields, flight display monitors, flight deck inside surfaces (mirror, oxygen gear, and nose gear sites), sliding table/cup holders and floors. Forward control panel, console panel, control pedestal and forward/aft fuse panels dusted and vacuumed. Remove and dispose of trash from flight deck
  • Prepare aircraft servicing supplies/equipment for international flight departures
  • Remove “Foreign Object Debris” (FOD) from ramp surfaces adjacent to or surrounding the airport terminal building

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License/Class B required
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Customs Seal from local airport authority is required
  • At least one (1) year of related experience cleaning houses, offices, and/or buildings
  • Self-motivated with ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrate communication; ability to develop effective relationships at all levels

In addition to these qualifications, you must also:

  • Pass a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 10-year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Pass a Department of Homeland Security/Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security assessment
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Work assigned schedule which may include multiple shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Work overtime as required
  • Arrive to work on-time
  • Complete paperwork
  • Communicate by radio with supervisors and tower personnel
  • Follow directions
  • Work as a team member

Physical Requirements :

  • Stand, bend, and/or stoop for different periods of time
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Walk up/down different types of stairs at various angles
  • Exposed to extreme temperature changes and noise
  • Work outside during any weather condition
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 20-25 feet
  • Learn the various types of aircrafts in the airline’s fleet and their individual cleaning requirements
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast paced environment and under tight time constraints
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and seek assistance from fellow team members
  • Interact directly with customers, airline personnel, and fellow team members to resolve problems and/or issues that may arise
