Position Title: General Manager

Location: Queens, NY

Position Purpose:


Lead and direct all day-to-day operational and administrative activities associated with the handling of cargo and mail at the LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to cargo and mail services for all American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Air Canada and Jet Blue flights at LGA. Safety, security, training, compliance, on-time performance and consistency in optimizing service levels are the cornerstones of this cargo and mail operation and are critical requirements to achieving operational excellence. It is absolutely imperative that the General Manager be the leader in developing teamwork and a strong working relationship with our customers.

The General Manager will be required to deliver against operational, compliance and financial performance goals and execute in accordance with strict airline, government, and airport regulations. This position is expected to identify opportunities for expansion at the location and develop our people for personal and professional growth.


  • Day-to-day management and oversight of the entire operation, it’s people, and operating budget
  • Direct staff and execute plans to deliver a safe, secure and reliable operation
  • Interact with airport authorities, government agencies, airline customers, and external organizations
  • Deliver against operational goals, compliance goals financial goals, and company objectives
  • Plan and executes resource allocation for staffing and ground equipment
  • Drive performance and productivity
  • Accountable for reliability, customer service delivery, fostering positive employee relations, cost management, and regulatory compliance
  • Support company policies and procedures, benefit, and compensation programs


  • Bachelor degree in aviation management or related field preferred, and at least 5 years of airline/aviation experience required preferably in Cargo, Mail and/or Warehousing.
  • Strong working knowledge of airline operations, and must have Cargo Operations experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (most notable Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven business acumen, technical learning/innovation management, and a drive for results
  • Superior problem-solving, conflict management, and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated communication, leadership, and analytical skills; ability to develop effective relationships at all levels
  • Pass a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 10-year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • Pass a Department of Homeland Security/Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security assessment
  • Must have a recommendation from your direct supervisor and/or manager (internal candidates only)
